Burn Notice - Mixed Messages

In order to earn visitation rights to see Fiona (Gabrielle Anwar) in prison, Michael (Jeffrey Donovan) reaches out to his mentor (John C. McGinley) and training officer and agrees to help him bring down a the leader of a Mexican drug cartel and his psychotic security expert (Anthony Ruivivar) who attempting to establish a foothold in Miami.

Michael and Jesse (Coby Bell) go undercover as corrupt DEA agents, but when Michael's cover is blown before the operation ever begins Jesse is forced to go in alone. Things get even more complicated when the team discovers the cartel already has a man inside the DEA

After not getting Michael to open up about Fi's imprisonment Madeline (Sharon Gless) enlists the help of Nate (Seth Peterson) to try and talk to his brother, but the truth is Nate has family troubles of his own. And to survive inside the prison, and the unwanted attentions of a prison gang leader, Fi makes a new friend inside (Taryn Manning), but it turns out she has ulterior motives as well.

"Mixed Messages" is a good episode showing how well Michael and his team can think on their feet, and create an entire unit of DEA agents out of thin air. With Michael stuck in the van Jesse takes point and proves he's learned a couple things from Mr. Westen over the past couple of years. As to who on the outside wants Fi dead, whether it be an old enemy or Anson (Jere Burns), and how far their willing to go, we'll have to wait at least another week to find out.
