Person of Interest - Til Death

The Machine provides the numbers of a wealthy husband (Mark Pellegrino) and wife (Francie Swift) whose publishing house recently released a candid tell all of the Maryland Militia and their leader who is on his way to New York to publicly protest the book. However it turns out the militia leader is far less dangerous to the couple than they are to each other.

Reese (Jim Caviezel) and Finch (Michael Emerson) split duties covering the couple when they separate giving Reese only seconds to  remove and disarm a bomb placed on the wife's car that Finch believes may have been sent there by her husband who wants to sell the company to an eager buyer despite his wife's wishes. Things get even more complicated when Finch discovers the wife has also hired an assassin to kill her husband.

Trying to keep the two from killing each other Reese calls in both Carter (Taraji P. Henson) and the increasingly hard to reach Fusco (Kevin Chapman) who decides to take his blind date (Tricia Paoluccio) along for the ride on his stakeout. Unable to protect both of them, and an innocents that might find their way into the crossfire, Reese makes an executive decision and abducts the couple for some unorthodox marriage counseling before using the pair as bait to draw out their respective assassins.

The unusual situation certainly makes for a memorable episode that delivers an action-packed ending, even if the couple's last-minute reconciliation does feel far too rushed. The episode also introduces potential love interests for both Carter and Fusco and includes flashbacks from Finch's past including his early days with Grace (Carrie Preston) and her birthday scavenger hunt that reminds us the man Finch might have been if he had never invented The Machine.
