White Collar - Shoot the Moon

Sara Ellis (Hilarie Burton) enlists Neal's (Matt Bomer) help to protect Marie Antoinette's original perfume on display at a gala as Peter (Tim DeKay) and Elizabeth (Tiffani Thiessen) plan a romantic weekend out of town. However everyone's plans are put on hold when the gala is robbed by a Bonnie and Clyde pair of thieves (Jessica McNameeJackson Rathbone) who take the Burkes hostage.

As Neal and the FBI search for clues by going through the hundreds of love letters their Clyde sent his mail order girlfriend, unaware that the pair have abducted Peter and his wife, the Burkes get to know their loved-crazed kidnappers a little better and work together to try and hide the fact that Peter works for the FBI (which they are only able to do for so long). While not focused on the case, Neal continues to look into the clue left by Ellen (Judith Ivey) and deal with the news that Sara may be moving to London with a cushy new promotion.

After realizing their friends have been taken, Diana (Marsha Thomason) and Jones (Sharif Atkins) rally the troops as Neal, Sara, and Mozzie (Willie Garson) try to discover what bizarre romantic robbery the thieves might strike upon next after stealing Marilyn Monroe's engagement ring and Marie Antoinette's perfume. Everyone converges on the New York Hall of Science where the Neal and Sara steal the moon rock the thieves have their eye on in order to use it as leverage to get Peter and Elizabeth released.

Given their recent brush with death, Elizabeth comes clean to Peter about asking Neal to lie about the search into his father's past, ending one of the series' more awkward storylines. I'm sad to see Sara leave, but the show makes the most of Burton's appearance and gives the character a classy sendoff. And taking the bait that Peter left for them to find allows Mozzie to crack the code and get the pair one step closer to the proof to clear his father's (Treat Williams) name in the season's final two episodes.
