Green Lantern: The Animated Series - Dark Matter

In the season, and perhaps series, finale the entire 3,600 ring-wielding members of the Green Lantern Corps are brought together for one final attempt to stop Aya (Grey DeLisle) from traveling back in time to the moment of creation and destroying all life in the universe, remaking the universe in her own image.

With the help of Tomar-Re (Jeff Bennett) and the vast knowledge contained in the Oan databases, Hal Jordan (Josh Keaton) makes a surprising discovery that Aya's path of destruction has included only uninhabited systems as she's gone out of her way to stop from harming any planets with sentient life. Unable to stop the battle already underway, Hal flies through the thick of the action in a final attempt to talk some sense into his friend on to be captured and brought inside the Anti-Monitor's body to gaze into the creation of the universe.

Hal sends word to Kilowog (Kevin Michael Richardson) and  Guy Gardner (Diedrich Bader) to stop worrying about the doomed assault and marshal their combined power to get Razer (Jason Spisak) to the center of the action realizing the Red Lantern is the only one who can stop what Aya has planned. Lashing out, and nearly killing Razer, Aya is forced to acknowledge she is not the emotionless logical being she claims, and at the last possible instant abandons her plans to recreate a universe devoid of organic life.

Using what power she has left Aya heals Razer's wounds and rejoins Hal and the Corps. However her Manhunter soldiers (each carrying a copy of Aya's program within them), are far less eager to throw in the towel and continue the battle. In order to stop the Manhunters, Aya releases a virus to destroy ever version of their program in existence (including herself). Not believing Aya could ever be completely destroyed, Razer says his goodbyes and sets out alone searching for some piece of his love in the universe.

The finale is more hopeful and less bittersweet than I had expected. Along with Gardner, Salaak, and Tomar-Re, several other Green Lanterns return to help the show go out with a bang including ChasonLarvox, and Ch’p. As of now their are no plans for future episodes of the series, but DC Animation has been known to resurrect shows after a hiatus before so we'll just have to wait and see if Hal, Kilowog, and Razer's journeys may continue somewhere down the line.
