Community - Intro to Knots

Annie (Alison Brie) takes over Jeff's (Joel McHale) apartment  for the Study Group's Christmas party whose guests include Chang (Ken Jeong) and Professor Cornwallis (Malcolm McDowell) who Annie hopes to win over after she discovers his plan to fail the group over their recent paper (which included an entire section where Jeff simply cut-and-pasted the lyrics for "War").

Things don't go quite as planned when Jeff insults the professor, Chang ties him to a chair, and the group is staring at a definite F (rather than the C- they would have gotten) along with possible criminal charges if they can't rectify the situation before the end of the night. The Study Group's attempt to blackmail the professor is met with a history lesson and Cornwallis attempts to turn the group against each other by searching for the weak link. Meanwhile Abed (Danny Pudi) plays out Die Hard at Christmas (well, not really).

Like most of this season's episodes, "Intro to Knots" features a few funny moments, an underwhelming story, and a hamfisted moral lesson shoved down the audience's throat. For a Christmas present (even one delivered in April) it may not be a lump of coal in your stocking, but it's the kind of gift you'd like to exchange as soon as possible.
