Covert Affairs - Hang Wire

With Auggie (Christopher Gorham) being held by Calder (Hill Harper) off site at a secret detention facility and Teo (Manolo Cardona) on a suicide mission to kill Henry Wilcox (Gregory Itzin), Annie (Piper Perabo) heads to Copenhagen to try and prevent Arthur‘s (Peter Gallagher) son from killing the man who is responsible for all of their suffering. Although Annie is successful in stopping Teo, all it does is allow Henry to claim victory by framing both Annie and the terrorist for the murder of several United States citizens using the last of the stinger missiles.

As Joan tries to track down her missing team members, and Auggie begins to question whether or not they've misread Calder's motives, Arthur decides to hire a lawyer and come clean with the entire truth to try and protect the ones he loves. However, the attack in Denmark puts a premature end to his plans as the former head of the CIA flies to Germany where Teo eventually succumbs to his injuries in an Army hospital. Although I'm sad to see Teo meet the tragic end, despite Annie's hopes there was little chance of the man ever finding peace or a life outside his deep cover as a CIA spy inside the Colombian terrorist network.

The episode ends with Henry triumphant (and gloating on national news for Arthur's benefit), Annie on the run, and Arthur mourning the son he barely knew. Before Teo's departure "Hang Wire" does give us some grainy flashbacks of Teo's hazy memories of the limited time he spent with his father as a child, but for Arthur the promise of a future with his son was simply not meant to be. With only two episodes remaining before the mid-season break both Annie and Arthur have revenge on their mind and the key to their success or failure may lay in the truth of whose side Calder truly belongs.
