Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - The Bridge

After a group of Centipede-enhanced soldiers break Edison Po (Cullen Douglas) out of a Federal penitentiary, Coulson (Clark Gregg) calls on the help of Mike Peterson (J. August Richards) to help his team track down the terrorist group, despite the concerns of both Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) and Ward (Brett Dalton). Peterson's involvement helps the team identify Raina (Ruth Negga), learn about the existence of a mysterious "clairvoyant" tied to the organization, and gives Skye (Chloe Bennet) and Peterson time to catch-up.

After a short stop in Cleveland to talk with the sister (Molly McCook) of one of the Centipede soldiers, the team heads to Oakland to take down another Centipede facility only to walk straight into a trap laid by Po and Centipede's super-soldiers. When that trap fails, Raina decides to use Peterson's son (Ajani Wrighster) as leverage to get their hands on Coulson who agrees to be traded for Ace's life.

The episode's B-story involves Coulson and May giving the appearance of helping Skye investigate her parents without actually giving her any information they consider too dangerous. That, and Skye stumbling on the the relationship between Ward and May, leads to some friction among the team which isn't helped by Coulson's abduction. I was happy to see August return (even if it is apparently far more short-lived than I would have hoped). "The Bridge" ends on a cliffhanger leaving the future of both Coulson and his team in jeopardy as well as reveal the reason why the Centipede wanted the team's leader while promising an answer to the questions surrounding the agent's death and resurrection when the show returns in January.
