Scorpion - Father's Day

While Paige (Katharine McPhee) deals with the unexpected return of Ralph's (Riley B. Smith) father (Brendan Hines), something each member of the team decides to weigh-in on, Walter (Elyes Gabel) and the group investigate the prison break involving a borderline-genius hacker and two members of the Russian mob who they believe may have kidnapped the computer genius to exploit his code. The true story behind the plan to siphon money off of the stock market is a little more complicated but seeing the "normals" take advantage of a gifted individual and fearing Ralph may suffer the same fate causes Walter to dwell on his own betrayals.

"Father's Day" follows the show's established formula with the group getting in over the heads, this time pretending to be heavily-armed FBI Agents to save the genius who they discover may have been playing them the entire time. The flashbacks offer a look at the relationship between Cabe (Robert Patrick) and Walter as a child, but don't really offer any new insight or information into the relationship that hasn't already been explored over the first few episodes of the series.

The introduction of Ralph's career minor-league baseball-player father adds a wild card into the mix in terms of the group's overprotective nature to both Ralph and Paige leading to Toby (Eddie Kaye Thomas) making a fool of himself. Although the idea of a genius fooling the group rubs everyone the wrong way, Sylvester (Ari Stidham) does, for a short period of time, get his first pet although Birdronie doesn't appear to survive the experience.
