Hawaii Five-0 - Ke Koho Mamao Aku

When a rodeo cowboy dies on a Martian training facility Five-0 is called in to investigate in an episode that takes the opportunity to explore some more exotic locales of the Hawaiian Islands including HI-SEAS (Hawaii Space Exploration Analog and Simulation) and Kalapana Lava Gardens. Eventually the investigation uncovers a connection to a missing prized race horse whose worth it turns out is more than enough to kill for.

"Ke Koho Mamao Aku" includes two B-stories, the first involves Max (Masi Oka) being forced to work with a former friend (Ravi Patel) acting as the local Medical Examiner who he had a falling out with years ago. The second, introduced in the episode's opening involves Officer Pua Kai (Shawn Thomsen) investigating McGarrett (Alex O’Loughlin) and Danny (Scott Caan) chopping down a pine tree in a protected reserve. Not surprisingly, both subplots involve a bit of last-minute holiday spirit (although Danny will still be out far more cash than if he had just bought the overpriced tree).

The holiday-themed episode offers the full cast together for Christmas and a nice scene between Danny and Kono (Grace Park), who also gets to show off her rodeo skills this week, discussing the detective's daughter (Teilor Grubbs) being too old for Santa Claus. I love it when the show throws Caan and Park together on-screen and would still be very much in favor of a Danny-Kono pairing somewhere down the line.
