Elementary - The Eternity Injection

While looking into the disappearance of an old acquaintance of Watson (Lucy Liu), Sherlock Holmes (Jonny Lee Miller) uncovers other victims killed due to their involvement in an illegal drug trial. Piecing together the clues from the nurse's notes and the victims' brain damage, Holmes and Watson work backward to find the man (Dakin Matthews) responsible for the trial and the murders needed to cover up his attempt to stave off his impending death a bit longer.

Playing on a classic Holmes trope, "The Eternity Injection" introduces the drudgery of everyday sobriety to Holmes who has begun to struggle against the mundane existence his life has become since kicking his habit. In Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's original works Holmes would often turn to chemical stimulation when the world around him wasn't doing the job. We'll have to wait and see whether or not the temptation to relapse we saw at the end of Season Two (albeit for different reasons) becomes an itch too irresistible for the detective not to scratch. Or, does the mere threat of a relapse bring Watson back closer into Holmes' orbit. And, if that's the case, does Kitty (Ophelia Lovibond), who has shown promising growth as a detective, become the odd man out?
