Star Wars Rebels - Path of the Jedi

After witnessing Ezra (Taylor Gray) touch the Dark Side on their last mission, Kanan (Freddie Prinze Jr.) takes his padawan on a separate mission leading them to discover a hidden Jedi temple on Ezra's homeworld of Lothal. There, cut-off from his master and friends, the apprentice will face his darkest fears including watching Kanan and the rest of the crew of the Ghost fall to the Inquisitor (Jason Isaacs) and fight back a mountain of self-doubt about his own abilities and his worth to his new family.

After seeing through the illusion and proving himself worthy (guess we won't get to see Darth Ezra's attempt to rule the galaxy as a Sith Lord anytime soon), both master and apprentice are visited by a familiar voice in the Star Wars Universe, that of Yoda (who is heard by both but seen by neither). This time both past their test trusting themselves and each other as Ezra emerges from the chamber with the gift of a kyber crystal allowing the padawan to build his first lightsaber.

The first episode back after a mid-season hiatus is a big turning point for Ezra. It also touches on the doubt caused by Kanan's own failure as a Jedi which the show has hinted at during its first few episodes. Ending the episode with the thief turned Jedi celebrating with his new family and lighting up his first lightsaber for the first time, "Path of the Jedi" ends on a hopeful note. Of course now his training begins in earnest which will be interesting to see how many episodes we get focused on the young man becoming a Jedi versus the jobs the crew takes for the burgeoning Rebellion.
