Elementary - The Female of the Species

With Kitty (Ophelia Lovibond) out of the country and Watson (Lucy Liu) mourning the murder of Andrew she knows, but cannot prove, was ordered by Elana March (Gina Gershon) from the prison cell where Watson put her, Sherlock Holmes (Jonny Lee Miller) elicits the help of Marcus Bell (Jon Michael Hill) for his latest case involving the theft of a pair of pregnant zebras from the local zoo. Their investigation will lead to the discovery of an extinct quagga bred from one of the zebras which would catch quite a price on the black market.

While relying on Detective Bell for the investigation Holmes makes an effort to be there for Watson in her time of need once again showcasing how far Holmes has come from the first episode of the series (at least where Watson is concerned). The fate of March is as surprising as the letter Joan receives taking credit as the show reintroduces the character of Moriarty (Natalie Dormer) who even from her own confinement still has the reach to control the fate of any she wishes.

Watson isn't able to get justice for her boyfriend by she also isn't upset by Moriarty's actions. However, reexamining her life after the loss allows the show to come full circle with Watson announcing her plans to return to the brownstone and her full-time partnership with Holmes. United once more, we'll have to wait and see what fate has for the pair on the horizon.
