Person of Interest - Guilty

Following Shaw's (Sarah Shahi) apparent death and Root's (Amy Acker) departure Reese (Jim Caviezel) and Finch (Michael Emerson) get down to basics agreeing to spare anyone else from the fallout of their enterprise. The latest number comes in the form of a member (Blair Brown) of a jury which Finch gets assigned to as well. Given the high-profile defendant is on trial for what looks like an open-and-shut case for the murder of his wife, Finch assumes he's the one pressuring their latest number into forcing a verdict in his favor. With some coaching from Zoe Morgan (Paige Turco), whose help Reese can't turn down, Finch learns all he needs to help sway the jury to a guilty verdict... except that's exactly what the people blackmailing their latest number want.

"Guilty" has a pretty large plot hole in the ease it takes for Finch, Zoe, and Reese all to conclude who is pressuring the juror and why despite any evidence to back-up the claim. Usually far more methodical, Finch allows himself to be led down the wrong path until it's almost too late and he's forced to stall the jury until the Reese can find a way to uncover who really murdered the defendant's wife and why.

It's always fun to see Turco return, but there's definitely something missing without either Root or Shaw making an appearance. Fusco's (Kevin Chapman) unwillingness to be cut out of the operation for his own protection provides the episode its best moment and Finch and Reese are forced to agree they can't do the job alone. I'm very much on the fence of the episode's B-story involving Reese's crush on his therapist (Wrenn Schmidt) and his sudden need to unburden himself of secrets and guilt but I'm curious to see just where the relationship is ultimately headed and what consequences such a friendship could bring for both of them.
