Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. - The Frenemy of My Enemy

"The Frenemy of My Enemy" is an odd episode all around. While everyone involved in the Inhuman storyline tries to unintentionally sabotage Skye's (Chloe Bennet) new life among "her people" Other S.H.I.E.L.D. attempts to track down Coulson (Clark Gregg) through Deathlok (J. August Richards) in a Three's Company plot device designed to kick-in at the exact wrong moment, view a sequence of perplexing events completely out of context, and lead to a misunderstanding.

While all this is going on Coulson enlists the help of Ward (Brett Dalton) and Agent 33 (Maya Stojan), whose face mask has miraculously allowed it to complete her original face (after the show made a huge deal about that being impossible), to try and track down Skye through HYDRA which is a bizarre plan that only succeeds because 1) Ward's minion betrays them and 2) HYDRA decides to abandon the trip where Coulson wanted to go in search of the teleporting Inhuman.

Although the episode includes some nice individual scenes, mostly between Skye and her father, "The Frenemy of My Enemy" features far too many characters working against their own best interest for the sole purpose of moving plot forward. Coulson missing Skye and choosing to turn himself over to the Other S.H.I.E.L.D. may finally help that storyline wind down, but he's also directly responsible for putting a weapon like Deathlok into the hands of HYDRA which likely means the next time we see Mike Peterson he'll be even less warm and fuzzy.
