Supergirl - Truth, Justice and the American Way

Kara (Melissa Benoist) begins to feel the fallout of recent weeks as she mourns the death of Astra (Laura Benanti) which she wrongly blames J'onn (David Harewood) for, and prepares for an inevitable showdown with Non (Chris Vance), and learns she's been replaced and demoted by Cat Grant (Calista Flockhart) in favor of her new hire Siobhan Smythe (Italia Ricci). She is confronted by Superman's black friend James "Don't Call Me Jimmy" Olsen (Mehcad Brooks) who is increasingly conflicted over how the DEO's treatment of Maxwell Lord (Peter Facinelli) and his friend's willingness to ignore the fact for "the greater good."

Supergirl and the DEO also have to deal with a new battle-armored killer (Jeff Branson) hunting down and murdering escaped convicts of Fort Rozz. Although she's unable to deal with the other troubles in her life, Kara is able to take down Master Jailer whose vengeful view of justice forces her to rethink her attitude towards Maxwell Lord. Although heavy-handed, "Truth, Justice and the American Way" forces Kara to seriously consider the kind of hero she wants to be and decide which lines are worth crossing and which ones aren't (such as her comment about true heroes NEVER killing - take that Zack Snyder). Lord's release solves an immediate crisis of faith for several characters while opening up new shenanigans from the man later in the series. And, hey, I'm still holding out hope the guy will put together his own super-team before too long.
