Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. – Bouncing Back

After a short tease of things to come, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns from it's extended winter hiatus with Coulson (Clark Gregg) devoting his time to find Gideon Malick (Powers Boothe). To do so he'll demand the help of the half brain dead Werner von Strucker (Spencer Treat Clark) even dust off the old torture device he himself was once strapped into for information about his resurrection.

While Coulson's story takes up a large chuck of the episode, "Bouncing Back" gets its title from the introduction of a new Inhuman (Natalia Cordova-Buckley) who has the ability to move quicker than the eye in short bursts. Elena Rodriguez's initial behavior, stealing guns and kidnapping Mack (Henry Simmons), gives S.H.I.E.L.D. the wrong idea about her true motivations. Once the misunderstandings are put to rest and the language gap is breached the abilities of Yo-Yo, as Mack names her, are immeadiately helpful to the team as her ability to quickly disarm enemies makes it easy for Daisy (Chloe Bennet) to mop up afterwards. Even if she takes her leave of the team by the end of the episode, we're at least finally seeing the creation of an early version of the Secret Warriors.

Of course the return wouldn't be complete without more awkward behavior between Fitz (Iain De Caestecker) and Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) and the show's acknowledgement of Ward's (Brett Dalton) transformation into the new big bad. Still recovering from his return, the episode waits until the end of the episode before teasing us with just how the villain will make his presence known.
