iZombie - Dead Beat / Salivation Army

iZombie closes out its Second Season with a two-part finale that wraps up several ongoing storylines while introducing important new players for when the show returns next year (and getting off one final Rob Thomas joke before the curtain falls). With Major (Robert Buckley) arrested as the Chaos Killer and both Liv (Rose McIver) and Ravi (Rahul Kohli) temporarily suspended from the morgue, things aren't looking good for Team Zombie. Even if Bozzio's (Jessica Harmon) case is built completely on circumstantial evidence, Babineaux (Malcolm Goodwin) is finally able to tie Major to the Meat Cute massacre leaving Liv no choice but to come clean to the detective about zombies before the jailed (and brain-craving) Major reveals the existence of the creatures to the entire population of the local prison.

Babineaux's choice not only costs him Bozzio but also can't do anything good for his career. It also allows Liv to finally come clean with the truth about her visions, her odd eating habits, and personality swings. With Major freed Liv and her ex can focus their attention on Max Rager and the stable of zombie prisoners they have in their secret underground lab. Breaking into the prison-themed party, the two zombies and their cop pal will see far more action than they expected as a mad zombie breakout kills nearly everyone involved.

Peyton (Aly Michalka) gets her own subplot, both in her relationship with Ravi heating back up, and later when she's kidnapped by Mr. Boss' goons after the crime boss discovers Blaine (David Anders) is still alive. The former zombie's heroism helps save the damsel in distress, but it may also foreshadow yet another preemptive break from the good doctor in the romance department. By the end of the finale Vaughn Du Clark (Steven Weber) will get what's coming to him, Liv and Major will be safe, and a new presence in the Blackwater-ish new owners of Max Rager will reveal to the medical examiner their real interest in the company suggesting Liv's life just got way more complicated.
