Darth Vader #25

The final issue of Marvel's Darth Vader series wraps up both ongoing storylines. First, the Dark Lord of the Sith confronts Cylo-V once more. This time, however, Darth Vader makes certain the cybernetic expert won't be able to escape by moving his consciousness to another cloned host body. Once victorious, Vader returns to the Emperor and receives a surprise.

Vader's shock that Dr. Aphra has come clean with the Emperor, exposing all of Vader's secret plans and maneuverings, is nothing compared to the shock Aphra discovers when Palpatine rewards his apprentice's initiative. The droid expert is unceremoniously shown the door and blasted into space. It's a fitting end to the character, however, writer Kieron Gillen can't quite bring himself to kill of Aphra and allows for the opportunity for Aphra to resurface sometime in the future in another Star Wars comic.

Overall Darth Vader has proven a solid comic highlighting one of cinema's best villains. I'm sad to see it end as there are obviously far more stories left to tell. Worth a look.

[Marvel, $3.99]
