Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Henry (Jared Gilmore) return to school as Once Upon a Time concludes the Dr. Jekyll (Hank Harris) and Mr. Hyde (Sam Witwer) storyline and teases the start of Aladdin by introducing Galavant's Karen David as Snow's new teaching assistant (who just so happens to also be Disney Princess). I'm not surprised by how Hyde and Jekyll exit the show, although it happens much quicker than I expected. As for Jasmine, we don't see any flashbacks to her previous life, but from her conversations with Snow it appears she didn't leave Agrabah under the best circumstances.
The main conflict from the episode involves Hyde acquiring a trinket from Rumpelstiltskin (Robert Carlyle) in order to play out an untold story that nearly costs Belle (Emilie de Ravin) her life. The flashbacks not only tie in Rumpelstiltskin's past with Jekyll and Hyde but also point out a sad truth for the mother to be - as much as she may want the father of her child to leave her alone, his numerous enemies will no doubt see the Dark One's child as a way to leverage their revenge. The twist in the Jekyll/Hyde story is an intriguing one as the true monster isn't who anyone believed. The pair's end also points to a solution to the town's Evil Queen (Lana Parrilla) problem, although it's not one I'd expect the show's writers to actually explore.
