Lucifer - Monster

A growing need to be punished for the death his brother Uriel (Michael Imperioli) leads Lucifer (Tom Ellis) on a downward spiral of guilt and depression. Compromising Chloe's (Lauren German) case by taking even more liberties than usual, Lucifer is eventually benched with only this alcohol and self-pity to keep him company. If last week was a major turning point in the series, "Monster" continues that trend as the Devil now sees himself as someone in desperate need to face punishment for his actions. Unable to be honest with Chloe about the cause of his malaise, Lucifer instead reveals himself to Linda (Rachael Harris) leaving no doubt whatsoever in the doctor's mind just who and what Lucifer truly is.

The simplicity of Lucifer's reveal to Linda proves to be one of the most memorable moments in the series so far. Unable to process the truth of what she now knows, the question for the psychiatrist now becomes what to do about her most unusual client. While the murder investigation itself is the weakest piece of the episode, "Monster" does deliver in a pair of its subplots by finally giving us more of Maze (Lesley-Ann Brandt) and Trixie's (Scarlett Estevez) odd friendship as Lucifer's demon pal takes Chloe out for a memorable evening of trick-or-treating. The other piece of the episode continues to foreshadow Mum's (Tricia Helfer) complex motives as she attempts to soothe the pain of one child while subtly bringing Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside) ever more closer to her side.
