Poirot - The Cornish Mystery
Murder Mystery Monday takes us back to early 20th Century London and another case for the famous Belgian detective Hercule Poirot. The day after a visit by a frightened woman (Amanda Walker) who believes her husband is poisoning her and planning to make off with his beautiful new assistant (Laura Girling), Poirot (David Suchet) and Captain Hastings (Hugh Fraser) arrive to find their client dead. The police look to the husband as the obvious culprit, but Poirot believes something even more nefarious is afoot.
"The Cornish Mystery," which stays quite faithful to the original Agathe Christie story, offers an obvious answer to the crime while Poirot digs deeper for the truth of the case. It's of interest that while Poirot is able to identify the true murderer (John Bowler) and his motives, he is left with absolutely no proof of the crime. However, with the help of Hastings, Poirot is able to trick the man into incriminating himself.
