The Librarians: The Next Chapter - And the Deadly Drekavac

Adding yet another Librarian wouldn't be my first choice for improving The Librarians (which already has a few too many characters by that name). However, the opening episode of The Librarians: The Next Chapter offers an intriguing argument for just that when introducing a Librarian from the past, Vikram Chamberlain (Callum McGowan), pulled into present day. A bit too fond of magic, Vikram was caught in a time bubble for centuries before being freed by Stone (Christian Kane). While Stone deals with a magical rupture Vikram created, the Librarian from the past heads off with some companions to capture a lonely soul possessed by a demon (also released thanks to the elder Librarian).

Along with Vikram, we get a trio of other characters worth noting. First, there's scientist Lysa Pascal (Olivia Morris) who doesn't believe in magic. Second, there's historian Connor Green (Bluey Robinson) obsessed with proving The Library exists. And last, but not least, there's Guardian Charlie Cornwall (Jessica Green) who Stone sends to look after them. This quartet will make up the core of the new series around a single Librarian and his... well, let's just call the companions. As for the cast of the other show, my guess is we may see them, if at all, only in cameos like the one Kane gets here, but for the most part it looks like we're finally get back to adventures of a single Librarian (and one lost in time at that) and a few friends who each have their own reasons for tagging along.
