Hawaii Five-0 - Mohai

The discovery of a carefully planned abduction leading to a brutal ritualistic murder on Halloween night makes the Five-0 Task Force believe their killer is only getting started. Max's (Masi Oka) autopsy of the victim shows she was kept alive while the killer carefully removed several of her vital organs. The killer made no attempt to keep the organs viable for black market sale or transplant. He simply enjoyed his work.

Kono (Grace Park) retraces the victim's moments before her abduction leading the team to the discovery of a Halloween party she attended in an abandoned house the night of her abduction. As McGarrett (Alex O'Loughlin) and Danny (Scott Caan) look through video shot at the party by its host (Chris Coy) hoping to find signs of their killer, Kono and Cho (Daniel Dae Kim) stop at a local occult shop to get some help from an expert.

The clues lead the team to a social awkward young man (Chris Marquette) and his equally demented grandmother (Lee Meriwether), each of who are willing to kill to ensure the sacrifice of their second victim is a success. In the episode's B-story, as the team investigates the case, Catherine (Michelle Borth) bonds with Grace (Teilor Grubbs) over absentee fathers leading to an impromptu post-Halloween foursome screening of The Notebook.

Although the show was originally pulled due to events surrounding Hurricane Sandy, "Mohai" works well as a Halloween episode. I applaud the choice of casting Meriwether as the murderer's grandmother, and even more so after it's revealed she not only knows about his killings but thoroughly approves giving us a pair of very creepy scenes.
