Covert Affairs - Quicksand

With Auggie deploying to Iraq to be a "battle buddy" for a soldier (Jocko Sims) suffering from post-traumatic stress Annie (Piper Perabo) has to rely on the help of Barber (Dylan Taylor) and Eyal (Oded Fehr) when she is set up in Luxembourg attempting to retreive to possible intelligence from a murder victim she believes to be her former asset (Michelle Nolden). After avoiding capture and making to Zürich alone, Annie reconnects with Eyal, but rather than take a safe trip home the hunted becomes the hunter as the two spies agree to go after Khalid (Haaz Sleiman) together.

Eyal has been in Zürich for days believing the terrorist's father (Erick Avari) is funneling cash to his son now that the terrorist's accounts are frozen, but with Khalid about to disappear for good their window to catch him is closing quickly. They have one chance to follow the last of the money, but to do so they'll need a little of their own to bribe their way into an exclusive men's club, with the help of Joan (Kari Matchett). Things don't go quite according to plan when Eyal gets stuck dining with the man's father and Annie is shocked to discover the courier is the former asset she believed dead less than 24-hours ago.

Although Auggie's assignment has its rough patches as well, he finds as much closure by returning to Iraq as the soldier he was assigned to help. On hearing of Henry Wilcox's (Gregory Itzin) imminent release from prison Arthur (Peter Gallagher) pays the former head of the CIA a visit in prison where he learns a few new facts about the botched bombing that attempted to kill Khalid which Wilcox informs was a far greater success than anyone knows.

"Quicksand" sees Annie sinking further and further as her plans keep going awry. The reporter is dead, and with no leads and Khalid's men closing in Eyal sacrifices himself to lead Annie to the man they both want dead. And even if Annie should be able to save her friend and make it home she's still got a long-delayed talk with Auggie that could have serious repercussions for Ms. Walker's future. With all that, and the unraveling of the mystery behind the bombing and Wilcox's freedom, next week's season finale should be a doozy.
