The Lying Game - Catch Her in the Lie

After coming clean with Laurel (Allie Gonino) about the twins' secret, Emma (Alexandra Chando) enlists the help of both Laurel and Ethan (Blair Redford) to catch Rebecca (Charisma Carpenter) and Sutton in their web of deception but neither is too keen on betraying Sutton even if it does mean an end to the lies. Ethan also finds his renewed relationship with Sutton on shaky ground once he learns Emma and Thayer (Christian Alexander) have returned from Los Angeles and he has to deal with the feelings for the twin he isn't dating.

Kristin (Helen Slater) discovers $20,00 missing from her joint account with Ted (Andy Buckley) over a period of months which makes her question whether or not his affair with Rebecca lasted far longer than he is letting on. Coincidentally, Nancy Rogers (Katherine Willis) shows up at the police station to show Theresa (Yara Martinez) and Dan (Tyler Christopher) a rather large sum of money in cash which her son buried in her rose garden shortly before his death.

Jordan's (Ryan Rottman) life gets no less complicated even if Mads (Alice Greczyn) is ready to admit her feelings and date secretly when a curious Rebecca pressures her son into asking Laurel to the school dance in order to find out the true story of what Laurel was up to the night she snuck onto their property. Everything comes to a head at the school's formal where Emma stands in for Sutton as Ethan's date as Thayer takes Sutton for a ride, but when Sutton gets away and heads back to the dance and Emma learns about the $20,000 and the likelihood that her father may be a murderer the best laid plans fall by the wayside.

As the episode comes to an end Rebecca spends some time with Ted chaperoning the dance, Alec (Adrian Pasdar) surprises Kristin with a bottle of wine and the truth about his feelings for her, and Mads and Ethan spend the night together drinking until the sun comes up sharing being lost in the twins lies over the past year, and Thayer confronts Emma as consummate their relationship. Emma's plans may lead to further secrets if her suspicions about Ted are true, and any action she takes may jeopardize the other family she's ever really known.
