Castle - Dead Again

With the threat of LOCKSAT once again looming in the background, Castle goes for goofy in the attempted murder of a safety inspector (Jonathan Silverman) who survives poisoning, electrocution, and being shot in the head. With Castle (Nathan Fillion) consumed by the man's incredible survival, something the writer attributes to super-powers, Beckett (Stana Katic), Ryan (Seamus Dever), and Esposito (Jon Huertas) are more concerned with finding the would-be killer.

"Dead Again" goes a little too far in trying to recapture the feel of an older episode of Castle (which also ignores Rick's growth over the last several seasons). The level of the writer's reactions here seem all inflated for comedic effect. Lanie's (Tamala Jones) inability to discern whether the victim is alive or dead is good for a couple chuckles as well, but it also makes you question her competence as a medical examiner (which this late into the series shouldn't be happening). As to the mystery of who wants the safety inspector killed, the case has a nice reveal about the identity of their killer (Kate Cobb) but wouldn't rate high on the show's list of best mysteries.
