The Mandalorian - The Marshal

The Second Season premiere of The Mandalorian sends the Mandalorian (Pedro Pascal) and Baby Yoda back to the planet farthest from the bright center of the galaxy. The return to Mos Eisley also means the return of Peli Motto (Amy Sedaris) and Tusken Raiders as our protagonist searches for rumors of another Mandalorian somewhere in the deserts of Tatooine. Of course, this is all after the season opening action scene in a din of sin where the Mandalorian's attempt to buy information about the location of others ends in several dead bodies and a rumor sending him back to the desert world. While mostly disconnected from the larger story, other than offering the Mandalorian a starting point on his wild goose chase across the galaxy, it does offer one of two big action sequences for the episode.

Timothy Olyphant guest-stars here as the marshal of a small mining town who has used some repurposed Mandalorian armor to keep his town safe. An imposter walking around in armor doesn't sit too well with our protagonist, but he does allow the marshal to keep the armor long enough to help the town with their sand dragon problem. I'll give credit to Jon Favreau for continuing to develop the Sandpeople as more than just mindless predators. Although leery on working with the raiders, the townspeople and the Sandpeople do work together to take down the dragon... well, actually just offer a small window for our hero to do the deed. The extended action sequence with the dragon provides the other memorable action scene of the episode in which our hero is victorious from inside the belly of the beast, although he is no closer to finding either Mandalorians or Jedi than when the episode began. However, a familiar face has become aware of him.
