American Psycho
Adapted from the novel of the same name, 2000's American Psycho cast Christian Bale as investment banker (and serial killer) Patrick Bateman. Satirizing yuppie and corporate culture, perhaps never more pointedly than Bateman's insecurity and jealousy of another banker's business card, the dark comedy includes a number of familiar faces in supporting roles including Willem Dafoe, Jared Leto, Josh Lucas, Chloƫ Sevigny, Samantha Mathis, Justin Theroux, and Reese Witherspoon.
The absurdist take climaxing in Batman's bloody kills, often accompanied by blaring 70s and 80s pop hits, earned a mixed response with some who were dissatisfied with its level of violence. Over the years the film has developed something of a cult following despite a thoroughly disappointing (and now mostly forgotten) straight-to-video sequel. I think the film is quite enjoyable and its easy to see how it led to Bale's rise in Hollywood. That said, the amount of inside-baseball corporate asides, and even the shock of the viciousness of Bateman's killings, do suffer somewhat on multiple viewings.
The 25th Anniversary 4K includes deleted scenes, audio commentary, several featurettes including an interview with Bale, various promotional materials including both trailers and television spots, and both a new collector's box and a CD case parodying a Huey Lewis and the News album cover (particularly notable given Lewis pulling his song from the film's soundtrack objecting to how it was used in the film).
