Pretty Lethal
Maddie Ziegler leads a group of bickering ballerinas (Iris Apatow, Lana Condor, Millicent Simmonds, and Avantika) overseas for a recital who become trapped in a house full of Hungarian mobsters where they witness the murder of their instructor (Lydia Leonard) and find themselves hunted. In order to survive, the dysfunctional group will have to put their petty squabbles aside and use their dance moves with quite literally lethal efficiency.
Pretty Lethal is a throwaway thriller with every character marginally defined such as Zieglar as the poor but street smart member of the group. One of the other ballerinas is deaf, another gets drugged leading to her acting high much of the film, etc. Making the situation even more goofy is Uma Thurman as a mid-level mobster obsessed with ballet, largely undercutting any real tension in the film, who uses the situation for her own advantage allowing her to, eventually, settle a very old score.
While obviously attempting to play on the idea of ballerinas as kick-ass warriors and killers seen in John Wick and other films, there's not much in the way of memorable moments or lines other than the late action scenes involving the use of synchronized dance to kill, although Ziegler does steal a moment while laughing at the torturer whose initial attempts are nothing worse than what a ballerina constantly deals with in training.
