Batman: The Brave and the Bold - Bold Beginnings

Three of Batman's pals, Green Arrow (James Arnold Taylor), Plastic Man (Tom Kenny), and Aquaman (John Di Maggio), find themselves captured by Mr. Freeze (Di Maggio). To help pass the time each of the characters recounts an early team-up with the Caped Crusader.

The first flashback gives us Green Arrow and Batman (Diedrich Bader) fighting over who will capture the Cavalier (Greg Ellis) who has kidnapped a member of Star City high society (Cathy Cavadini) and brought her to Gotham. Plastic Man recounts the time he went undercover to stop Babyface's (Kenny) bank heisting crew. Aquaman shares the tale of "The Sea Caves of Doom" in which he and Batman took down Black Manta (Kevin Michael Richardson) an his gang of ten, twenty, fifty, make that 100 Manta Men.

Not to be outdone by the episode's short tales, the opening segment of the show is one of the most bizarre yet with Batman teaming up with Space Ghost (Gary Owens). Yes, Space Ghost! Jan (Cavadini), Jace (Taylor), and Blip also make an appearance as Batman helps the space heroes take down the Creature King (Gregg Berger).

Although I'm not a big fan of the episode's design of Mr. Freeze, there's plenty to enjoy here including an appearance by Space Ghost and three separate tales of Batman and pals in action (four, if you count all the heroes teaming up to take down Mr. Freeze in the final moments). Very cool.
