Psych - Last Night Gus

"This is not a joke, Mr. Spencer. That explosion was meant to kill and the killer is still out there. And Henry Spencer, where are your pants?!"

Shawn (James Roday), Gus (Dulé Hill), Lassiter (Timothy Omundson), and Woody (Kurt Fuller) wake up in the Psych offices the night after a retirement dinner hungover and at a loss for what occurred the night before. The discovery that Lassiter's gun was fired three times during the missing hours and a the fact that a man who was seen with the group is dead from three bullet wounds only furthers the mystery.

A drunken day after search leads to more questions than answers including a second dead body, a vandalized donut mascot, an armed robber on the run, a missing woman, a disappearance of Henry's (Corbin Bernsen) pants, an angry Ed Lover, an exploding hotel room, and a beautiful young woman (Jessica Lucas) that desperately wants Gus (but not for the reason he thinks).

As the group tries to solve the murder Gus tries to hook-up with the woman from last night, and Shawn must deal with a drunk phone call to Juliet (Maggie Lawson) that may have lasting impact on their relationship. Oh, and did I mention, Lassiter shot a giant donut? Yes, yes he did.

Even if the episode does borrow more than a little from The Hangover and its recent imitators the episode does put a unique Psych spin on the proceedings and deliver laughs both large and small and feels much more like the show I've come to know and love than last week's somewhat tepid season premiere. Shawn and Gus appear to be back, and I'm glad.
