M.A.S.K. #2
Relaunched as a new comic, and part of the new expanded Energon Universe, M.A.S.K. was an 80s toyline and cartoon similar to G.I. JOE in a small force of heroes attempting to prevent the rise of an evil organization. It was also similar to Transformers in the vehicles of both heroes and villains transforming (but into other vehicles rather than sentient robots). However, the line had a much smaller impact than either of the other two franchises so I am curious as to who the comic's target audience is.
Like the TV-show, it appears different issues will highlight certain characters. M.A.S.K. #2 gives us Gloria Baker and Bruce Sato attempting to retrieve an unknown powerful artifact only to run Miles Mayhem and Sly Rex.
The setting allows for some underwater adventure with both the Shark (which always reminds me of my favorite Bond car) and the Piranha (one of the toys I owned). I don't know if it will pull in new readers (I wouldn't wait to draw in other aspects of the Energon Universe in the slow build the other comics are taking), but for someone who had a couple of these toys there definitely is some fun to be had.
