Neagley - Team Building Exercises
In an episode that continues Neagley's (Maria Sten) partnership with Riley (Greyston Holt), while she continues to ignore the work for the firm who is paying for her, we get a flashback to events at the compound which led Tommy Crane (Jhaleil Swaby) to leave, and likely led to his death. In a show centered our central character uncovering the truth, the sequence feels a bit out of place, although honestly it doesn't provide anything that Neagley won't eventually work out on her own.
The season's second episode also provides more time focused on the relationship between Echo Canyon cult leader Lawrence Cole (Damon Herriman) and the equally morally bankrupt pharmaceutical asshole (Matthew Del Negro) willing to bribe or kill anyone between them and a billion dollar payday.
With a continued emphasis on the working the case above the kinds of action sequence Reacher is known for, memorable moments of the episode involve Neagley unexpectedly meeting a member of Riley's family, Neagley catching her father in a lie, Neagley and Riley chasing down one of the Echo Canyon stooges from the morgue (including running a quick game on a pawnbroker), and Keno (Jasper Jones) showing up as an unexpected house guest and getting more than he bargained for becoming Neagley's spy within Echo Canyon.
