The latest episode of Beware the Batman begins with Batman (Anthony Ruivivar) and Tatsu (Sumalee Montano) battling Silver Monkey (James Remar) and an army of ninjas for control of the Soultaker Sword and ends with Katana finally leaning Bruce Wayne's secret and becoming a proper member of the "Family."
This episode marks the end of Bruce Wayne's romantic dalliances with Dr. Bethany Ravencroft (Cree Summer) who it turns out was a member of the League of Assassins (and Silver Monkey's main squeeze). After delivering Bruce Wayne as a hostage, the pair plan to trade the billionaire to Tatsu in exchange for the sword but don't count on either Batman or Lady Shiva's (Finola Hughes) arrival to ruin their plans.
After the letdown of the last episode, "Family" returns the focus back on Batman, Tatsu, and the League of Assassins. Although Beware the Batman has yet to deliver a great episode, it's best have all been focused on these characters and themes. Now that Katana is finally part of Batman's inner-circle it will be interesting to see how she gets along fighting alongside the Dark Knight, and just how Batman deals with a partner.
