After returning to London with Anastacia and attending a gala for the museum, to the disappointment of both Professor Bruttenholm (who wants Hellboy to return to the BPRD) and Dr. Hobart (who thinks Hellboy is a danger magnet and a possible bad influence on Anastacia), Hellboy decides to take a sabbatical and jumps a plane with Anastacia bound for Turkey and a new adventure involving her former mentor unearthing the first shadow puppet theater.
As with the first two issues, there's plenty of fun back-and-forth verbal sparring between Anastacia and Hellboy. As for the mystery, the unearthed theater has caused several mysterious deaths by the archeologist's team by creepy trickster spirits living in the shadows. An investigation further into the crypt leads to more odd events to close out the issue on another cliffhanger with our pair finding themselves transported some where, or some time, else.
