The Punisher: One Last Kill

Set during a similar period of Daredevil: Reborn, but not really a tie-in, the one-off special The Punisher: One Last Kill catches up with a spent Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) having killed off various members of the Gnucci Crime Family seeking retribution for the death of his own. Having completed his quest, the special amps up the character's inner demons and PTSD having him hallucinate various people in his life over the course of the show including his daughter and those who he served with. I guess this is what we are getting instead of a second season of Moon Knight.

As with any of the Marvel Television projects there's always the question of where are the rest of the big heroes (who, of course, all live in New York City and are oblivious to whatever is going to happen here). Having wiped out the Gnuccis, Little Sicily has become a third world country unto itself but there's nary a glance from Daredevil, Spider-Man, Iron Man, or others.

Better titled The Punisher: Reborn, as the entire arc of the special is to get Frank back into action resetting the character to start punishing again, the action for the special is triggered by the matriarch of the Gnucci Crime Family Ma Gnucci (Judith Light) who releases Frank's location to all of his enemies creating a bloody 10-15 minute action sequence of Frank fighting his way out of the tenement building and into the streets of the city against wave after wave of mafia, ganbangers, and killers. It's this sequence, more than any emotional or psychological journey, that is the lasting moment of The Punisher: One Last Kill which, while worth the watch, I don't know if it deserved its own featured special.
