Doctor Who - Wish World
After a goofy episode involving an intergalactic song contest which is only notable for revealing Mrs. Flood (Anita Dobson) to be The Rani and then introducing Archie Panjabi as her latest regeneration, The Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) and Belinda Chandra (Varada Sethu) awake back on Earth, although not the one they left. Playing into the revolving gods arc, The Rani has use a newborn god to made changes to the world that still leaves doubts and cracks to the real world underneath (which, apparently is the point). The Doctor's fake life is shaken by a meeting with Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson) and an message from Rogue (Jonathan Groff) and begins to doubt the world around him (although it will take a full episode before we see The Doctor back to himself).
"Wish World" continues a season full of high production values and inconsistent stories. With The Doctor living someone else's life, in terms of characters looking for the truth the episode is mostly centered around Ruby discovering others who have similar doubts about the world. The episode also brings back Conrad (Jonah Hauer-King) as part of the Rani's complicated plan to both shroud the truth of the world but also tell of Time Lords through stories hoping to pique The Doctor's curiosity just enough. Eventually, forcing him to remember all at once, the Rani reintroduces herself as the clock counts down to the end of the world when The Doctor's doubt breaks the world (or something like that?) and her odd plan to rip a hole in the universe begins.
The episode is kind of a mess, focusing on The Rani masking her advanced science as magic, and ending on a cliffhanger with The Doctor aware of the truth but plunging to his death as the clock is about to strike twelve. All of this work is The Rani's plan to somehow use the rip in the fabric of reality to see the first of the Time Lords referenced in novels and audio stories over the years and last seen on television during Peter Davison's run. What she wants from him is still unclear.
