Captain America #1
I'll admit being a bit confused where exactly this new volume of Captain America fits in continuity. Set in an undisclosed date that doesn't quite seem the 60s nor relocated to the present day, Captain America #1 offers a new story of early-days Captain America only a week or so after he's found and thawed-out by the Avengers. We get cameos her from the likes of Iron Man and the Fantastic Four, but the issue is really about Steve Rogers trying to find his place in a new world.
The art by Valerio Schiti is crisp and we get a bit of early action with Cap chasing down a shooter on a motorcycle with is really the only action of the comic. We also get a story about a character who mirrors Steve Rogers own path into the military (who I'm assuming will turn out to be a villain at some point) which feels just a bit odd. Steve's choice, to return to the United States Armed Forces, will likely create some tension before all is said and done but for now feels like the right fit for Cap. His first mission is head to Latveria with a team to take on Doctor Doom (playing into all the other Doom-related content Marvel is spewing out in advance of Avengers: Doomsday which is still 18 months away). It's a solid enough start.
