Predator: Black, White & Blood #1

Following the format of other black-and-white anthology series, Predator: Black, White & Blood #1 offers three tales featuring the characters originally introduced in the 1987 film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Sadly, there's not much here unless you are a diehard Predator fan.

"Bloodwood," which notably includes a luminescent green as part of the color palette for all the stories (being the color of the alien's blood) gives us a barmaid named Millie getting used to the new world of Australia who witnesses the killing ability of a captured Predator used as entertainment by the locals. As in some of the series, this story will continue with another segment in the next issue (which makes it feel a bit incomplete) while the other stories are one-offs.

"Once and Future" offers a medieval tale of the apprentice of a druid attacked on the road by a Predator. And, in by far the best story entitled "A Place of No Honor," which is the only story of the three to be presented from the Predator's point of view, we get the hunter hitting a weapons expo expecting the hall to be full of warriors worthy of battle. In a bit of commentary about weekend warriors who frequent such events, the Predator finds no challenge, and no honor, at all. Although likely to piss off quite a few readers, this is the only story that really hits its mark.
