Supergirl #3
I finally figured out what this comic reminds me of. With it's small town setting and problems that can ultimately be solved with kind words and a hug, this run of Supergirl reminds me of Archie comics (in a good way). Rebranded "Phonygirl," Supergirl continues to try and win back the inhabitants of Midvale and free them from machinations of the Kandorian Lesla-Lar whose obsession with Kara has led her to try and take over her life. Unable to keep playing hero, Lesla-Lar then turns to villain.
A conclusion and understanding between the two women is reached but not before Lesla-Lar turns Kara into a reckless and self-centered version of herself who causes Archie-level chaos around town before being turned back into herself. We also see Lena working to help Supergirl while struggling to befriend the distrustful Streaky and Krypto also getting blasted with Lesla-Lar's ray turning him bad as well in the short-term. In the end, Kara and Lesla-Lar come to an understanding (as Kara appears to be collecting friends with questionable backgrounds), although the fallout of Lesla-Lar's adventure will need to be dealt with in the next issue.
