Rick and Morty - Ricker than Fiction

After an extreme reaction to the latest sequel in the Maximum Velocitree franchise, Rick (Ian Cardoni) and Morty (Harry Belden) set out to prove they can do better. However, after the pair are pulled into Movie-lizer Rick creates to fix the movie script they are forced to make all their changes make sense and find a way to get back to a reasonable ending which is the only way they can escape the movie. With more of nod to Star Trek: The Next Generation's "Elementary, Dear Data" than the movie it steals its title from, a simple misspoken sentence by Rick leads to the trouble the pair find themselves in leaving Jerry (Chris Parnell) to try and right the script from the real world.

The episode's hot take on fans' quick reaction to franchise sequels thinking they know better provides the framework of the story that also allows both James Gunn and Zack Snyder to appear as themselves. However, perhaps not intentionally, the end of the episode suggests that through all their half-assed changes they may have actually created a better movie (and made the franchise's lamest character into a badass with a heartbreaking backstory). The episode is a bit all over the place and I'm not sure anything about the Velocitree world makes any sense, even in the relative sense of something from Rick and Morty, but there are some fun wacky moments to be had (and we also get a pretty good, even if tongue-in-cheek, reason why Snyder never understood Superman).
