Detective Comics #1100

An oversized issue celebrating Batman, Detective Comics #1100 includes four separate stories from four separate creative teams. The opening silent story presented without dialogue (and featuring the Dark Knight Detective's use of sign language), "Lost & Found," features Batman coming across a hearing-impaired kid and helping him find his missing dog (with a little help from Ace the Bat-Hound) taken by some gangbangers. A terrific tale from writer Tom Taylor and artist Mikel Janín, it's the standout story and is worth the price of the issue all on its own.

We also get a story of Bruce Wayne fencing words with a clueless reporter at a fundraiser after taking down the Joker which speaks to the dual role of Batman and Bruce's roles in the community, a pair of doctors discussing Batman at a busy night in the ER highlighting Batman's effect on emergency rooms over the years, and finally a story of Batman after a serial killer who has killed a victim on six straight nights who chooses to jump rather than let Batman capture him.
