Nine Puzzles - Episodes 3 & 4

The third and fourth episodes see Yoon E-na (Kim Da-mi) further insert herself into the life of Kim Han-saem (Son Suk-ku) by joining the department to profile the killer of Mi-young (and even invites herself to dinner with Han-saem and his mother). While he continues to suspect her guilt in the death of her uncle, the detective does learn to respect her skills as a profile over the two episodes as the pair keep getting thrown together against his wishes. As a prime suspect is revealed, dumping a body before disappearing, E-na makes one more important observation that even Han-saem must admire.

While keeping the high quality of writing and cinematography from the previous two episodes, the swerve in episode 4 that confirms the suspect the police are hunting is actually the carved up victim pulled from the bottom of the river works quite well. We also get our odd couple working together at the end of the episode to get a confession of those actually responsible for both murders. However, the death of E-na's uncle remains unsolved, and with the arrival of another puzzle piece there's still a reason for E-na to continue to encroach on Han-saem who, whether he likes it or not, she has decided he's her best chance to solve the case.
