The Pickup
I love of a good heist movie. The Pickup is not a good heist movie. It's generous to call The Pickup a film at all. The braindead comedy features Eddie Murphy and Pete Davidson as armored car guards who get targeted in convoluted scheme by a beautiful young woman (Keke Palmer) with a sob story and a pair of goons (Jack Kesy and Ismael Cruz Cordova). There's almost nothing believable about the script by Kevin Burrows and Matt Mider and less likable about the movie.
Davidson is annoying in every scene, Murphy is phoning it in, the motivations and actions of every single character are all highly suspect, and the action sequence are of a TV-movie level. The Pickup is a complete mess (and yet somehow not the worst movie ever directed by Tim Story). It's a film you feel sorry for everyone involved including Eva Longoria and even Andrew Dice Clay. That's right, you feel sorry that the film is wasting the questionable acting talents of Andrew Dice Clay.
