Black Cat #1

The new volume of Black Cat starts out with an amusing setup featuring a banged-up Felicia Hardy in the waiting room of the Night Nurse following a hard day which we'll see a bit, all narrated by our protagonist. Fitting into larger Marvel Universe events, but not getting too wrapped up in them (although the Spider-Man cameo feels... odd), the comic can stand alone both as a fun one-off for curious readers and as a jumping off point for Felicia deciding on a change in career.

In terms of the Night Nurse framing, it's fun to see how that ties back into the Black Cat's run-in with the Lizard but I'll admit to being disappointed that the other guests also looking for treatment don't turn out to be part of the day's crazy events. I'm also not wild on the art the leans Zenescope-levels of sexualizing its female characters. Black Cat as not just someone playing in the gray areas but a genuine hero sounds like an idea with a limited shelf-life but it might be fun to see what happens.
