Nine Puzzles - Episode 7
Having identified that the One City apatment building is what ties all the serial killer's victims togeter, Yoon E-na (Kim Da-mi) and Han-saem (Son Suk-ku) begin to pull on that thread which will eventually lead to the inciting incident and motive for murder. E-na also identifies that each piece of the puzzle seems to suggest the crimes for which each of the victims was killed, which also makes her question how well she truly knew her uncle. While it will takes some time for all of this to come into focus, the apartment's discovery is the first big clue for the pair to move their investigation forward.
Captain Yang (Kim Sung-kyun) coninues to question E-na, sharing his suspicions with Han-saem about her movements on the night of her uncle's death (which we see play out in a series of flashbacks). The episode ends with E-na playing a hunch and being arrested for murder which will force Han-seam to finally make a decision on his partner's guilt or innocence and also work as a part of the larger investigation with E-na laying a trap for the killer which will provide a narrowed list of suspects that will ultimately explain how the apartment building, the artwork of the puzzle, the carnival which inspired it, and the series of murders are all tied together.
