Murder in a Small Town - Acts of Murder

The Second Season of Murder in a Small Town introduces some season-long conflicts for Karl (Rossif Sutherland) and Cassandra (Kristin Kreuk) to deal with following her election to the town council with the mayor (Marcia Gay Harden) attempting to pit the pair against each other suggesting the town's limited resources can't handle an increase in both police funding and the arts center central to Cassandra's campaign platform. While the pair don't fall for the trap, it's easy to see how this conflict could continue to linger (as well as a B-story involving the teenager of one of Karl's officers acting out).

As for the murder of the week, we get a wife (Anja Savcic) hitting her husband (Stewart Prince) with a frying pan and attempting to get rid of the body based on the questionable advice of her sister (Roan Curtis). Things get more complicated with the man not actually being dead, stumbling into town, and then getting killed in an entirely different manner due to his connections to local smugglers. While it takes a little bit to unravel how the various pieces fit together, none of the criminals prove to be all that bright and eventually everyone is hauled off to jail.
