As Sylvester Pemberton (Joel McHale) licks his wounds after being hospitalized while searching for clues about the murder of the Gambler (Eric Goins), even going so far as to contemplate retirement, Courtney (Brec Bassinger) will make an important discovery about Cameron (Hunter Sansone) seeing his powers in action and learning the boy she's crushing over wants desperately to avenge the death of his father who is mistakenly believes was a hero. As for the murder investigation, new evidence points to an old enemy of the JSA.
In both Sylvester and Cameron's plot threads there's foreshadowing of trouble. Ready to walk away and bequeath the staff to Courtney, it's Pat (Luke Wilson) who convinces his old partner to stay potentially leading to a conflict between Starman and Stargirl at some point this season. As for Cameron, Courtney helps him get control of his powers but what happens when he learns his father was taken down by Courtney and the JSA (and will he even listen to reason about who is father really was)? The episode also provides another clue why Cindy (Meg DeLacy) is so interested in what the Gambler's laptop may contain and a potential reason why she might turn to the father she loathes at some point if it is indeed the Dragon King responsible for recent events in Blue Valley.
