Covert Affairs - Sad Professor

Annie (Piper Perabo) receives two pieces of shocking news. The first is that her former college professor (Clarke Peters) is dead. The second is that not only was he was a member of the CIA but he was the person who first flagged her file for recruitment. Now the CIA needs Annie's help for somewhere hidden in his possessions is vital data the CIA needs.

All Annie is ordered to do is tell his widow (Laara Sadiq) that the man she loved kept a huge part of his life secret from her for decades and allow the CIA to search through all of their possessions to find a microdot with valuable intel about a Pakistani spy ring that her husband was most likely killed over. Easy, right?

Aside from the loss of a friend and watching another friend live through the grief of learning about her husband's secret life, the episode hits home for Annie as she begins to question whether or not to tell her sister (Anne Dudek) what she does for a living. From the teaser to next episode's mid-season finale the issue might be solved sooner than any of us expected.

Other interesting tidbits include Jai (Sendhil Ramamurthy) getting a real assignment and a little action (Andrea Drepaul) on the side, and Auggie (Christopher Gorham) learning about Annie's new beau Dr. Scott (Ben Lawson) during his attempt to calm Annie's sisters suspicions about her late hours at the Smithsonian. Another strong episode all-around.
