The Big Bang Theory - The Gorilla Dissolution

Finally offering a set visit to the filming of Penny (Kaley Cuoco) and Wil Wheaton's awful gorilla horror film, things change quickly when the director's disinterest clashes with the actress' new-found attitude to make something of the role of a bloodthirsty half-ape killer which leads to Leonard (Johnny Galecki), Penny, and Wil all being forcibly removed from the set.

While Bernadette (Melissa Rauch) and Howard (Simon Helberg) are forced to take care of his mother after an accident which leaves her bed-ridden for at least six weeks, and begins to cause friction between the couple in less than six hours, Raj (Kunal Nayyar) is distressed to run into Emily (Laura Spencer) on a date with another man. While the Howard/Bernadette story is a less-than-subtle metaphor for the pair eventually having kids (which is even directly referenced), the Raj storyline offers an insight to one of the character's biggest flaws which he begins to come to terms with as the episode ends and his relationship with Emily appears to get back on track.

Leading into next week's season finale, "The Gorilla Dissolution" is most notable for the rather unromantic, but still loving, way in which Penny and Leonard become engaged. Where Howard's storyline is purposely over-the-top for comedic effect, and given the inherent goofiness of the set visit, the more realistic discussion of Penny and Leonard's future, along with Raj's insight caused by his discussion with Sheldon (Jim Parsons) of all people, helps counter-balance the episode ending things on a high note.
